The distinction of borders are probably less important than they were in the 1960’s but there’s still a borrowing and building symbiotic relationship of artistic ideas among Italian and German composers. This one’s Italian and you can hear the space savore sanguino.
Vairagya, I’ve discovered, is a Sanskrit word that describes using disconnectedness as a means to moksha, or enlightenment. I’m neither disconnected nor enlightened but a New Years Resolution I’ve been sticking to is to be intentionally less engaged with the political world as a whole. In the interest of my own mental health I’m letting it go and tbh it’s working.
The music here falls into a sonic camp you might associate with early Tangerine Dream but there’s also echoes of Gustav Holst stomping around in there. All of it evokes space, which might be defined as anywhere except earth, which brings us back to the title.
Hello birddog,
What’s the best way to get my releases to you for consideration for a review? Here’s a link to my bandcamp page: https://johnolivermusic.bandcamp.com
I can send download codes for any and all releases. The most recent ones are Squid in Chains and departing souls https://johnolivermusic.bandcamp.com/album/sirens-of-kyiv https://johnolivermusic.bandcamp.com/album/departing-souls

You know, I loved and reviewed Tao 20 Tree Temple. It made my editor’s picks of 2021 https://birdboyblizzard.music.blog/2022/01/01/editors-picks-for-2021/ and here is the original review. It’s a bit of an idiosyncratic review that really doesn’t say much about your record except that I love it.
Here’s the review:

I got my eye out for departing souls and would love a free preview. If I don’t like it, I won’t review it. It may seem like I’m a very generous critic but that’s because I don’t fuck with music I don’t like. For every record I review I probably reject five.
That said, you honor me with your request and I consider you a great talent.
