⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
First things first, Susana Santos Silva does not miss. When you see her name pay attention because the champ is here. A great place to start is with the 42 minute solo piece, All the Rivers, which is one of the greatest triumphs in the entire history of jazz. Find it here: https://susanasantossilva.bandcamp.com/album/all-the-rivers
Per Zanussi plays bass for the trio. Besides this record, a good place to check out his music is on Marilyn Crispell‘s album Collaborations, which at the time I’m writing this is available on Spotify which unfortunately isn’t the case with everything released on the great but often too carefully tucked away Leo Records.
Martin Küchen plays baritone and sopranino saxophone. His music can also be heard on one of my all time favorite jazz records, Every Woman is a Tree by Angles which is kindly available for a free listen here https://kjellnordeson.bandcamp.com/album/angles-every-woman-is-a-tree
Raymond Strid plays drums. Like his above mentioned bandmate he has also recorded with Crispell. He also plays on two recordings with the brilliant Fire! Orchestra.
I know I’ve done a lot talking about other records in the review but this is what you would expect from this crew: one of the best releases of the year.
