The end of 23 is approaching and there are at least dozens of records I intended on reviewing this year that I’m just not going to be able to get around to. About two months ago I simply grew weary of writing reviews and let the blog stagnate. I haven’t been reading as much as I “should” either. It’s been a lot of watching American football (I live in Florida) and day sleeping and night sleeping. Throw in losing a few games of chess on line here and there. OK on to the music… ☁️🌥️🌤️
This caught my eye as a must listen because of Stian Westerhus. His 2010 release Pitch Black Star Spangled is one of favorite solo guitar records of all time. It’s wild to think that 13 years have passed and how different my life is and everything that’s happened personally and politically since then. I distinctly listening to the Norwegian while camping in beautiful Alabama.
Teun Verbruggen is powerhouse percussionist who has collaborated with Arve Henriksen, Dirk Serries, and Keiji Haino.
Together these two have created one of the finest raw instrumental avant garde releases on the year 2023.
