Shonen Knife have been at it for a long time and they’re wonderfully consistently wonderful. They have a great formula and the two greatest ingredients in the entertainment universe: The Heavy Ramones influence and Japanese Womanhood. The songs are cute and contagious all with great hooks and riffs. Remember when The Donnas made We’re Gonna Have a Huff Party Tonight and it seemed like wow they’re the new Ramones but then they got more popular and started to suck? Well, Shonen Knife never were transgressive; they were always cutie pies. And they never grew out of it because growing up is boring af. They give us what we want. I remember seeing them live around 94 or so and it was great because they’re great. Pop punk geniuses. Yum. It’s a nice day. ♥️
