The (so called) Who with Orchestra / Live at Wembley

First off, this isn’t The fucking Who. It was shameful enough to carry on without Keith Moon but to still claim you’re the entire band without Entwistle is incredible arrogance from one the most pompous rockers out there.
If you’re looking for a meaningful addition to their discography where they work cooperatively with an orchestra look elsewhere. The orchestra barely has any role and doesn’t even take a back seat. They’re tied to the roof like Mitt Romney’s dog. If you want some successful collaborations with orchestras let me give you some examples: Charlie Parker With Strings, Roseland NYC Live by Portishead, Nas illmatic: Live From The Kennedy Center, and The Flaming Lips
The Soft Bulletin: Live at Red Rocks feat. The Colorado Symphony & André de Ridder.
The surviving members of Led Zeppelin moved on artistically with dignity. John Paul Jones with Diamanda Galas, Robert Plant with Alison Krause… that’s how it’s done people. For a somewhat under the radar gem check out No Quarter: Jimmy Page and Robert Plant Unledded. On God, it’s as good as any Led Zeppelin release.
But Townsend and Daltrey can’t move past their bloated egos. However, it might be worth it to go on Spotify and check out the acoustic version of We Won’t Get Fooled again. One of the most disappointing losses on the record is how fresh Behind Blue Eyes would have sounded with just voice and orchestra but of course it’s dominated with Townsend’s guitar meaning there’s no reason not to simply listen to the better original studio version.
