My narcissism about being an authority on music and my belief that my opinions should start trends is beaten down regularly by the nobody gives a fuck reality of this blog with hundreds of reviews at this point. What’s even more absurd is fucking around with reviewing a record a basically consider mid when if I just stuck to the diamonds at least a name check here might mean something to somebody but these improvisational jazz or jazz adjacent albums pop up on Bandcamp and I’m off. And still this is good music, it’s just that the field is so crowded it’s a buyer’s market. Hell, it’s a non-buyer’s market. I haven’t paid for a record for years and that’s not changing. So am I going to bitch about the quality of music given to me for free. Well, yes and no. I mean, I already said it’s good. But it’s not next level. The musicians don’t give me the sense that they’re blessed with psychic intuition from the stars. It’s not groundbreaking. I’m not tingling with awe. And believe it or not that’s par. Maybe my blog is just as mid.
