There’s three main reasons why this is an important release:
1) It’s Bobby Dylan. That’s what my dad called him – growing up I used to have a poster of him on my bedroom wall and my dad would point at it and exclaim “Baaaahbee Dylan!!!” It was this poster:

2) It’s the only Dylan record where he plays with a band with no drummer. To me this a big one because frankly with Dylan you really don’t need a drummer. In general, and not always so don’t get mad, the drums either add nothing or are just a slight metronomic distraction you kind of have to tune out. This is a welcome change to explore these old mostly deep cuts with.
3) Sierra’s Theme is a really good new song. It’s a nice instrumental.
I’m a huge Dylan fan. I’ve loved him all my life. I have a close buddy who’s mad for him and we’ve had hours of conversations about him. That still doesn’t make me an expert. I know my share but everything about Dylan has been said a million times a million times better. I will say, sometimes the critics are full of shit because he’s released garbage that the critics ejaculated all over. And Dylan is the ultimate not giving a fuck artist. But this one deserves the praise. There’s so much Dylan to dig through, and God have I dug my share, that you could listen to this or something else you haven’t heard or review his classics. But there is reason to give this one a spin.
