Experimental

Rating: Worth a Listen

released June 4, 2023

I woke up determined to find something worth reviewing in my Bandcamp feed and after maybe an hour that included half of a generic slushwave record I settled on this: two guitarists collaborating on an avant garde improv. They’re both restrained and respectful of each other’s space which is artistically a good thing but here it’s so reserved that the lack of any surprises becomes a liability. But, in these days of more is more is more in terms of free or at least really cheap availability, worth even a single listen is pretty serious praise. Still, and I really hate being so cold about it, I really doubt that more than a small handful of people will return for even a second listen. And it’s good! But this terrian has been explored and explored. Even as abstract as this is it’s still basically the equivalent of a car chase in a movie. It’s worth it but it’s still been done a million times a million times better.
