This is the experience I want when I listen to experimental music. Engaging. Surprising. And cutting edge. The trend for artists to turn to field recordings is a great one. Especially when it’s done right. Remembered Present has all the electroacoustic musique concrete panache of the greats from yesteryear but the connection between found sound and the music experience breaking down the barriers between art and experience… I know that composers were addressing this problem at least as far back as the sixties but it’s works like this that exemplify how advances have been made compared to the original attempts. They’ve given us a wild collection of sounds but avoid the cliche of being a montage. It doesn’t hang its hat on surrealism it hangs its hat on construction. The music is going somewhere.

I’m really excited about this release. It’s a great example of using these concepts to take us somewhere very special.
