Raghaven, who has been touring and playing bass for the fantastic octogenarian jazz great Charles Lloyd (I really love the album Waves) has given us a fun and perfectly executed and very crisply produced jazz record. It reminds me of 1980’s releases by artists like Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, and Jaco Pastorius.

To my ears, probably because of Raghaven’s excellent leadership, guitarist Charles Altura and vibraphonist Joel Ross steal the show (like I’m sure they’re supposed to). Altura played on the highly acclaimed Chick Corea record The Vigil. And the guitar work on this record I’m reviewing is an absolute delight to listen to: beautiful tone, exciting runs, and excellent harmonizing and top shelf musical interplay. Ross, who received a very complementary in the NYTimes, see here:

sorry if it’s behind a paywall

As I was saying, Ross is also outstanding and for the same reasons. Really the entire band is 🔥. I’d love to them live.
