At this point electroacoustic music pretty much boils down to one thing: Are the sounds interesting enough to hold your attention? Or even more simply: Does it sound cool? Yes and yes. I’m long time fan of the genre. Every since I discovered Wednesday nights on WREK when I was in high school in the eighties. I still think it’s fair to consider where this music is taking you. Somewhere strange certainly but is it a journey at all. Unlike noise which is often a psychological monolith this has points a b and c or something like that I mean it moves in time like more traditional genres. It’s not like noise, drone, and ambient where time because a less relevant factor. And by time I mean the chronological passing of time, not the time signature type of time. That was a wordy preamble to say that this is music that takes the listener on a journey. It’s a wet metallic world with a lot of slurping and scraping and clicking. The artists keep it within the confines of the medium. The restraint gives it a feel of realism.
