Crash Worship are widely known for their live shows and I had the good fortune to see four times that I can remember. The best was in an art house theater. They somehow got all the lighs turned off, even the exit signs. Pitch black. They went from the sound of slow breaths to frenzied tribalism. The darkness was broken with a rare strobe flash and the frozen moment of the crowd is crazy contorted violent dance positions hung the air for several seconds. The strobe was slowly sped up then came the near zero visibility smoke machine smoke and mysterious powders and liquids thrown on the audience. Even the huge indoor fire shows weren’t this intense. I heard another attendant state he felt like he was being possesed. That’s exactly what it was. It was a complete takeover of our physical and mental selves. It was all encompassing and terrifying.
However, this cassette release was the most important thing they ever did and their best release by far. It’s hands down one of the greatest albums of all time, all bands all genres. I once asked a band member, either Jeff or Mark (I got them confused) why it wasn’t more widely released and apparently some other members felt they weren’t represented on it and therefore it doesn’t fairly represent the band. Thank God it’s on YouTube cause I’m telling you, the stuff on BandCamp and Spotify are NOT it. THIS is it. An absolute all time masterpiece.
