Chihei Hatakeyama is one of my favorite ambient artists. His label, White Paddy Mountain, offers dozens of good releases. Hatakeyama himself has over seventy releases. You can start wherever you please as his music is consistent and he sticks with a winning formula of loopy slow changing drones. I have a couple that I tend to lean into. Perhaps they’re sonically special or maybe they just caught my eye. Either way, if you’re looking for an entry here they are:

Pjusk is a Norwegian composer who lives and records music here:
I haven’t spent as much time with his music but it’s also really good. He’s a bit more varied and adventurous than Hatakeyama. On this release in particular the two seem very much on the same page with a few moments of darkness which I assume comes from Pjusk.
This album doesn’t roam outside the mold and admittedly there’s lots and lots to choose from but it’s a good mold and very nice dreamy creamy music.
