The strength and power of one man against the universe. I love this style of solo free jazz. The purity of expression with nothing standing between the performer and the audience. No other consideration than what the artist wants to say.

Here’s a review of some of his previous stuff on the authoritative Free Jazz Collective Blog:

On Transient Signalling At A Distance, Ward expresses himself in a very personal way. The sound is relatable and realistic. It’s profound the way life is profound. There’s also an earthy feel to this music. I feel like it’s in the tradition of Don Cherry. If this were literature I think it would be Russian realism because it’s so honest and pure.
