This one’s an aggressive percussive creature. If you remember the band Crash Worship the music on here builds tension in a similar fashion. It also has a film noir cinematic soundtrack vibe. Especially when you’re watching some movie and it occurs to you that the score composer is by far the most talented person involved. Ultimately this is avant-garde electronic music but the secret sauce is the acoustic horns. The bandcamp notes tell us we’re hearing a trumpet, a flugelhorn, a trombone, and a baritone sax. It doesn’t include a French horn but they’re utilized in a stark lonely way that I associate with the French horn. Slow and melancholic. Parts here and there are surprisingly melodic but overall it’s unhappy and discordant. It’s weird because it also actually flirts with the blues. The packaging looks nice and the Unexplained Sounds Group label has been putting out some top tier releases. If you’re a fan of the avant-garde you owe it to yourself to take a look at their discography.
