This came out in June 2022 and from the numbers on YouTube and Spotify it hasn’t caught traction yet but it will. This is a top three hip hop release this year and probably the best of the three. The other two being Future’s I Never Liked You and Earl Sweatshirt’s SICK!
I’ve been huge fan everything Screwston and Screwston adjacent for a long time. Basically as close to the jump as anyone outside of Houston. I love the DJ Screw approach so much I’ve really become too tolerant of lazy imitators. In other words I’ve been eating a lot of slop.
This crew may have been posting up brilliant releases for a while. I’m going to be exploring that after I write this review. However, for me this is my first exposure and wow. This is an entirely original take and huge upgrade. It’s slow but it’s so much more. The chops are smooth, beautiful, and hypnotic. It’s not trap at all but captures the same mesmerizing feel of the very best trap releases. It’s very dreamy and revolutionary.
I’m proud to catch this now. This is the next wave.
