To me, Silva is golden. I treat everything she does with awe and respect. Put it this way, I get as excited about her releases as I do anyone’s in any genre. She’s an absolute fave. I’m a fanboy.
This record is soulful and mournful. Seriously, this is the type of music that laments everything we’ve fucked up on this planet. It’s so abstract and sad. It taps into something that generally only literature can touch. It feels like there’s distinct meaning but it’s all emotion. The words are stripped away. It makes me feel alone and insignificant but still grateful to bear witness.
I don’t know what more to say really. It falls into the realm of what I usually call austere free jazz or avant-garde improvised music. It’s never showy or gimmicky. It’s not reaching for new listeners. It’s just music done perfectly for those who appreciate it.
