perila sticks to a winning formula that she delivers on better than all others. The ingredients are simple single instrument ambient compositions. Already from just this she creates an earthy ambience earthy in the Garden of Earthly Delights sense. The sound of Cambrian Period plants. The vocals are half mumbled secrets and the field recordings of children and birds are more of a sky than a foundation.
The final product is an easy shortlist for album of the year. It’s a beautifully successful experimental take on ambient music. There’s a handful of rivals using similar ingredients but this is at least as good as any of the competition.
