Genre: Free Jazz

Rating: 5/5

released on bandcamp February 25, 2022

Goddamn this is wild.

This record does for free jazz what Spacemen 3 did for psychedelic rock.

This record is the four minutes spent zooming on nitrous while you were already tripping on acid.

Roots wise, the echo brings to mind Bitches Brew and the aggression of Live Evil. But amped up.

If you’re digging this you should probably check out this one: Star Maps by Matt LaJoie

Binker Golding plays soprano and tenor saxophones. He has recorded with Steve Noble and Henry Kaiser.

Moses Boyd plays drums.

The stuff these two lay down is almost as if you had Colin Stetson and Eli Keszler got together.

You can read what I’ve written about Keszler here:

This is fantastic. Should be on every AOTY list. It’s pioneering. It’s rooted in tradition.

And finally Max Luthert creates live tape loops and electronic effects. He plays on some more grounded releases and I had to double check it’s the same guy. His contributions to this release are immeasurable.
