I love the name of the band and the album. I love the album cover.
What can we make out of a band that sounds exactly like Explosions in the Sky? Explosions in the Sky, along with Napalm Death, are the two most successfully imitated bands in the history of rock’n’roll. In order for a band to be influential, other bands have to be inspired to imitate and build on the sound as well. That’s why Napalm Death is more influential.
This record so successfully imitates Explosions in the Sky, a band I deeply admire (seeing them at Bonnaroo moments before the Mavs beat the Heat, is a deeply cherished memory) that blindfolded I might not know the difference unless I specifically recognized the song. Do I not buy generic everything? All medicine. Almost all canned food. If it’s good enough for what heals and nourishes my body why shouldn’t it be good enough for my music? I’m fine with it. This is an excellent record.
