This came up on my bandcamp feed and I listened to it the first time completely unaware, despite the title, that this had anything to do with the war in Ukraine or, despite the title again, was a performance from the city of Kharkiv. Yesterday, Kharkiv was in the news because they were hit with Russian bombs. There’s information about how to help in the bandcamp notes.
This is record is a two person tag team doom metal monster. The prolific Canadian Aidan Baker plays guitar and runs the drum machine. A couple of his records have run on rotation on my Spotify: The Spectrum of Distraction and Ecliptic Plane. Both are fantastic.
Leah Buckareff, who is on oodles of Nadja releases plays bass. This is an instrumental release but sometimes she sings.
This album is crushing, creeper, upsetting, and loud. So basically everything you want in a doom metal release.
