It’s not just this musician or this particular release but there’s something pleasantly blank slate about this brand of experimental drone. It makes me think of that philosopher that imagined a man completely isolated in space never seeing or hearing anything his whole life. Probably Heidegger. It’s the stripping music down to the level of that man’s consciousness. As if this is where music really should have started. Maybe it’s a rebirth, these ambient drones. Maybe it’s the movement away from the trappings of permanent structure into the more evolutionarily capable malleability. Or maybe it’s the ethereal ghost fading away forever.
