The weight of this recording is carried by saxophonist Paternostro. We’re dealing with aggressive noisy free jazz in the tradition of Borbetomagus. I want to hear that saxophone punch like Tyson. I want Brotzmann! I want Kaoru Abe! Paternostro comes out swinging. He’s throwing haymakers. Some are connecting and and some are flailing wildly but then somewhere around the fifth round he takes cover. Percussionist Fiorentino and Paternostro sink into a blues groove but electronics expert Tim Burkland isn’t having it! He’s bringing the noise! The band wakes up and WE’RE GOING THE DISTANCE!
