MingMing is a collection of avant-garde compositions compacted into a pop music format. Another review of this record, the only I could find in fact, argued that comparisons to Bjork are lazy. Well, being about the laziest piece of shit you’ll ever meet I’m going to come right and say that this does spring from that musical lineage arguably primarily from Kukl who were on the Crass label so it’s not like they’re full of shit. Otay:onii borrows from various predecessors including Beth Gibbons and Diamanda Galas and even Yma Sumac weather she (did not find pronoun on notes) knows it or not.
I think anyone who would like to see trip hop taken much further, and who wouldn’t, will enjoy this record.
