The music on this release transitions smoothly from musique-concrete to ambient drones to downtempo. Idk what they listen to but it seems to me to be somewhat influenced by Aphex Twin and a bit more heavily influenced by Boards of Canada. It’s the latter downtempo melodic structuring that this album primarily hangs its hat on. Obviously, it’s very hard to rise above the pack in the experimental and ambient sonic landscapes but the rarest skill is finding a new arrangement of traditional western musical notation that actually appeals. So little is left. Yet, Precipitation rises to the task and with that manages to give this music a special charm.
