One laudable goal of chill hop is to re-justify the beat on the mellow. As ambient moved on and on it finally seemed to conclude the we’re better off without the beat. I remember when I was about twenty, these older Christian guys told me that the beat I love is all about the devil. I’ve always been an atheist but I digested their knowledge. The beat is fucking and all that comes with it from love to disease to sorrow. The devil is all up in it. BRING THAT BEAT BACK. I don’t always miss it but it figures out a way back in. Is this the fucking beat? Yes. Nice and slow. This has it all. The right production. The right instrumental composition. The right vibe. And definitely the right title and packaging. This is the fucking record. Wet and warm and infinitely present and comfortable. Get sum.
