The music on this live recording borrows more from the serialists in the 1940’s than Ayler. I mean to say, it’s very austere. As such, it’s an interesting and unusual space for the guitar. On the third and final track he branches into alternatives to plucking notes in a 1960’s electroacoustic tradition but the austerity remains.
Webster does his thing as well, of course. A solid staple in the current free jazz theme he reliably does an excellent job of complementing the tradition.
