I’ve gone through dozens of ambient drone releases this year. I’m partial to the style so even a lackluster attempt has a certain appeal even as we’re waiting for a new wave from the genre. Or perhaps its days are limited and night is sinking in. At this stage, it’s fairly startling to be struck by any single recording in particular but, you guessed it, this one struck me.
This is sad music and it strikes with thick sorrow. The passing of the seasons, aging, carrying on after death. Not dread. Just the heavyheartedness of waiting for whatever it is.
