Glåsbird, according to their website are an “established” artist reaching out. My guess is Ian Hawgood. This is more a Richard Bachman is Stephen King (Rage was the best thing he ever wrote and he took it out of print 🤷♂️) guess than a Jandek is Thurston Moore guess. Except that would’ve been stupid since wiki says it’s Richard Sterling Smith. How long has everyone known that? Anyway, you can’t win if you don’t enter.

One time I was flying from Tokyo to London (God, those were the days). I had a window seat and it was perfectly clear. I’m a meticulously polite person irl but when the flight attendant asked me to lower my shade I refused. The view I had of the earth below me had me mesmerized. I was right that it was probably once in a lifetime for me.

Siberia (or close enough) was blindingly white (to my fellow passengers dismay). Even from 30,000 feet, occasionally I could make out a road. A long lonely stretch. And I thought who the fuck lives down there and how the fuck can they stay alive? How could Moscow or any government have any say over their lives in any way? Some of those spots must be like if only one person lived in all of Alaska.
Are you expecting me to segue gently back into this review? Does this capture the essence of the place as it appeared from the sky? Well, it’s sad and beautiful. Music that embraces the cold. It’s a big place. You can’t miss it.
