The way vaporwave is transforming from melted ghost nostalgia into something more now is hard to catch and write about. But this isn’t a caretaker revisitation record. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but this is riding a different wave. It’s carved out by the genre but it’s pushing. And it’s pushing into redefining pop accessibility not the avant-garde. It’s almost like if you’re way out in nature, only you, and there’s all this beauty and you think it’s just there to prove it can be. That sort of sounds like maybe I’m saying it’s meant to be a secret. I don’t mean it like that exactly. But it does seem to be saying, “Hey. This is the world. I can be this good and almost nobody cares.” But no offense to the artist. Maybe lots of people care. I know we should care because this is fantastic music.
