Alexander Scriabin

Alexander Scriabin is one of the most important composers of all time. He was a Russian who died in 1915. Music historians like to beat around the bush about this but he was one of those people who can hear colors and see sounds and . I don’t know how deeply associated that phenomenon is with psychedelics these days but when I was young that was one the hallmarks of tripping balls: seeing sounds as colors. Well, Scriabin finally said fuck it and composed his music as a visual medium that only he could see. He first went balls to the wall with this in 1911 with one of the earliest examples of atonality in the western miscellanea of music, Piano Sonata Number Six.
