Life Lessons by Marc Cary

Genre: Jazz

Rating: 4/5

Here we have a three piece jazz ensemble going into the heart of jazz as I think most people perceive it to be. I spend much more time with free and avant garde jazz than with less abstract stuff like this. Jazz like this really has no room for error. The production has to be perfect. And as far as I can tell it is. The music has to be tidy and intricately put together. And it is. I’m not going to lie. This is basically what you’d expect. That said, let’s face it, music fans are spoiled these days. We expect a lot. And this record delivers. A lot. The closest frame of reference I can think of is Chick Corea, RIP, for whatever that’s worth. This is good music.
