It’s always more surprising to me when someone can create a decent pop song than any other musical feat. It can’t be studied curated or taught. The frequencies must be picked out of the sky. You’re either a muse for the masses or you aren’t.
I used to think bands had to be of their time. You know, to be twenty and a part of an artistic movement. There’s no denying how great that is but I took it too far by dismissing everything else. Art and artists don’t work like that. Cruising on the freeway going 90 mph is fucking great, especially after clearing new paths in the the jungle with a dull machete.
They aren’t pioneers but they do it really fucking well.
