This is the second review I’ve written up for desert sand feels warm at night as I also reviewed the comparably remarkable 我思う、ゆえに我あり. Both received the maximum 5/5 rating but the other review is quite short. My original intention was short and sweet but upon a friend’s, who happens to be a professional writer, suggestion I’ve taken to using a few more words and actually my blog has seen quite a bit more traction since I started putting a bit more into it. It’s hard, actually, because, you know, you really just need to LISTEN to it. But here goes:
It enters your consciousness with such absolute clarity it’s as if you’re creating it rather than listening to it. And it’s relaxing. It’s where you want your mind to be.
I doubt it would be as easy these days without going further off the beaten track to avoid being hassled by the man but back in the day, and it didn’t matter what direction you were coming from, but if you were driving to Las Vegas, about an hour or so out of town, you could pull over and lay a blanket down and get the snuggest sleep. Beware though, without a blanket you’re likely to end up with a scorpion. Spending a lot of my twenties in the west I had a few experiences of sex on the desert sand, with a nice blanket of course. Once, a group of us from Phoenix, I was just visiting a friend of a friend, brought kegs way out in the desert. It was like being in the ocean. You could see the cops an hour in advance and they never came out anyway. All that happy stoned and drunk warm desert sand make out sessions. And the Milky Way really milky.
Youth. I miss it.
This band lives up to the wonder of their name.
PS Nevada and Arizona cops are the worst. Imbibe and smoke and be naked and heavy pet at your own risk.
