With absolute certainty I can say this will be on my 2021 AOTY list. Constructed with echo pedal electric guitar sounds to mind bending psychedelic effect soulful and hypnotic. This is my first run in with ML that I remember but I see he’s garnered some attention including a positive review on Pitchfork. Star Maps has hints of both Eddie Hazel and Ali Farka Touré with the wizardry of Klaus Schulze behind the curtain. If that’s too much name dropping rest assured that this is a unique boundary pushing pioneering work of art. And it’s beautiful and mesmerizing.
