For the past six years or so ambient music has been a staple of my listening diet and I can be very forgiving if it’s the tried and true recipe. There’s nothing wrong with not reinventing the wheel. Especially if you’re skilled at working within the formula. Music doesn’t have to be pioneering to be great. It took me a long time to realize that. This, however, is indeed pioneering. As a listener there’s at least four ways you can approach this release: 1) a mellowed out matured vapor perspective 2) an ambient perspective 3) a neo-classical perspective 4) a lofi indie perspective. After only God almighty knows how many ambient records – hell how many all of these genres records – that I’ve listened to – it’s nice to get some new secret sauce. And this truly has a secret sauce. It’s a new insight into all of these genres. What we have here is a trailblazing recording that that’s not simply experimental but experimental and extraordinarily successful.
