This 21 piece orchestra, which includes the beyond brilliant Susana Santos Silva on trumpet, is one of I don’t know how many five star masterpieces on Rune Grammofon. There’s quite a handful of excellent reviews of this record online already. People have already said it better than I can say it or at least better than I can say it with with the amount of effort I’m going to put into this. However, I will say it’s exciting, progressive, aggressive, and spontaneous wicked good jazz that has the best of the energetic core of the genre living inside and pushes the music forward even after a century of tradition.
