released on Bandcamp May 3, 2016
Smashing in your face noise.
Edit: I’m updating this on April 12, 2022. The original was from March 17, 2021. Originally, I felt like very brief reviews were adequate because wtf you see my rating, here’s where you can listen wtf more do you fucking need. I still kind of think that makes sense. I mean what the reader really needs to get from my blog is direction for music listening. In other words, check out my fucking recommendations. I get that 99% of the people who read this blog know a shit ton about music and don’t need “direction”. However, the lengths I go to, to discover excellent and often almost entirely unheard newly music is uncanny. If you don’t believe me go through my backlogs. You can do that here btw, https://birdboyblizzard.music.blog/author/birddogblizzard/ Anyway, my friend, who happens to be a professional writer told told me that even though he liked my get right to the point style (and gimmick) I needed to write more. When I expanded my reviews my views expanded from about 1 a week to around 20 unique views a day. Modest still but growing and getting more organic traffic every month.
I raised the rating to this record to 5/5 because not only does it deserve it, but it’s important that I pay proper deference to this revolutionary noise band and to John Wiese in particular. He’s been a grinding hurricane force in the noise scene for over two decades now. The name commands respect. I suppose my thinking with the still very solid and respectable 4/5 rating, as to why it wasn’t higher, I’d thought that there’s a lot of pure noise / grindcore type records out there. But the truth is, this record, and this band in general consistently, are uniquely intense. There’s a certain sonic aggression that’s much easier imitated than it is replicated. This is absolutely 100% on fire.
